Good investigators spend more time ruling things out than getting excited. This is the method section: how to plan a first investigation, keep a log that is useful later, check your evidence before you convince yourself, and understand why the human brain is so good at finding a presence in an empty room. You do not have to be a skeptic to use these guides, but they will make your stories harder to knock down.
